National Association of Affordable Housing Lenders
Celebrating 30 years of Successful Community Investment
Who We Are

The National Association of Affordable Housing Lenders (NAAHL) represents America's leaders in moving private capital to those in need. Started in 1990, NAAHL encompasses 200 organizations committed to increasing private lending and investing in low- and moderate-income communities. Members are the "who's who" of private sector lenders and investors in affordable housing and community economic development: banks, thrifts, insurance companies, community development corporations, mortgage companies, loan consortia, financial intermediaries, pension funds, foundations, local and national nonprofits, and public agencies.

By pooling the knowledge and resources of our members, we can do an even better job of making a real difference in our communities. To accomplish its mission, NAAHL:

  • Provides strong representation for the community investment industry with Congress, the Administration, regulators and other key policymakers to assure that the industry's perspective and experience will be factored into the key policy decisions on affordable housing and community development
  • Stimulates innovation in, and breaks down barriers to, private investment in affordable housing and community development
  • Provides cutting-edge conferences on key industry issues and developments to increase the knowledge and know-how of community investment practitioners
  • Accelerates progress in community investment by providing a strong, cross-industry network of capital providers that enables lenders, nonprofit providers, and other organizations involved in community investment to share information and learn from the pioneers and newest innovators in the field
  • Provides a national forum for organizations in the forefront of affordable housing and community investment to disseminate the best practices in building sustainable communities
  • Enables members to make the connections that help them achieve their professional and personal goals
